Our Finest Hour
November 16, 2016A Genuine Wartime Hero
November 16, 2016Today, we bid a fond farewell to Sunday Night At The London Palladium, a show that was full of surprises in nostalgic tribute to one of the world’s favourite theatres. As well as featuring the songs of some of the big stars to appear on the stage over the years, the show brought back memories of the original Sunday night television show with priceless moments such as Beat the Clock, in which two members of the audience were “volunteered” at each show to come on stage and test their skills against the clock. One of the show’s highlights was a reprise of some of the famous musicals performed in breathtaking style by our talented cast.
The reprise opened with a section from Barnum, which made its West End debut at the Palladium in 1981. Pictured above, left to right, Catherine Dennison, Ben Goffe, Hayley-jo Whitney, Laura Hayward.
The stage set, the selection included “If I were a rich man” from Fiddler On the Roof, performed by Bill Byrne.
Paul James performed “There once was an ugly duckling” from the musical Hans Anderson which starred Tommy Steele.
Other musicals featured included The Sound of Music, pictured above Vincent Hayes woos a bashful Leisl (aka Andrew Robley).
If you missed Sunday Night At The London Palladium, you may still have a chance to see this section of the show in our 2016 Summertime Showcase where we review some of the highlights of the previous 12 months at Brick Lane Music Hall. But book now to avoid disappointment, as next year’s Summertime Showcase will be part of our Royal Season in celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday!
