March 16, 2020A very East End knees-up
May 16, 2020As well as our regular programme of shows throughout the year, Brick Lane Music Hall is committed to taking shows out on the road to hospices and care homes. Our most recent show was on mid-summer’s day at the East Ham Care Centre, part of the East Ham Memorial Hospital in Newham, where organisers worked hard to create a party atmosphere for hospice patients and those needing respite and dementia care.
Brick Lane Music Hall sent along two artists from among our regular performers, Musical Director and keyboard player, Martin Layzell, and singer, William Byrne, who joined in with the summer theme, giving the audience a flavour of our shows at Brick Lane Music Hall, from “Daisy Daisy” to “We’ll Meet Again”, via some lively sixties classics and soulful fifties songs.
As they performed, patients continued to arrive, being brought down from different wards to enjoy the party.
Several days later, the hospital told us that the patients were still talking about the show. “What a show. It really makes a difference in a hospital routine”.
