Pinocchio and His Wooden Whopper

Pinocchio and His Wooden Whopper is based on the classic tale of Geppetto the toy maker’s dream of having a son. The Blue Fairy promises she will make one of his wooden puppets, Pinocchio, into a real boy, as long as he can avoid one thing – telling lies. When the evil Strumpetta’s Carnivale del Male rolls into town, will Pinocchio be able to stay on the straight and narrow and be the real boy his father’s always wanted? Or will the temptations of show business prove too much to resist?

Panto’ legend, David Alder, plays Old Geppetto, with Brick Lane Music Hall regular, Charlotte Fage bringing the magic as the Blue Fairy. Pinocchio is played by the one and only Josh Benson (recently featured in The Times top stories to make you smile, when he was filmed diving into a giant Yorkshire Pudding full of gravy). Jiminy Cricket is played by Lucy Reed, well known to Brick Lane Music Hall pantomime veterans for her thigh slapping roles as Principal Boy, such as Prince Ben Dover in Shlepping Beauty. Jiminy is ably assisted by the glamorous Jack Pallister, making his Brick Lane Music Hall pantomime debut as Foxy La Rue. We are delighted that Hayley-Jo Whitney returns to play the masterful Strumpetta, and last but never least we have the most unlikely Mother and Son in the business – Andrew Robley is Dame Fanny Wick and Vincent Hayes is her son, Little Willy Wick.
